Based on the development and improvement of conventional casting processes

Building upon and improving conventional casting processes, researchers and technicians have worked together to continuously explore and innovate, successfully developing a series of new process methods. These new methods not only further improve the quality of castings and significantly increase production efficiency, but also greatly expand the application range of investment casting, bringing new vitality and development opportunities to the casting industry.   In the June 1978 issue of Foundry Magazine, there was a report detailing the cage-type combined large module process used by the Beijing Oil Pump Nozzle Factory. The core of this process lies in the ingenious design of the cage components, which ensures that the module has sufficient rigidity to withstand the various pressures during the casting process, while also serving as a gating system, making the pouring process smoother and more efficient. Through this design, the utilization rate of molten steel has been significantly improved, by about 10%, which is of great significance for saving raw materials and reducing costs.   Meanwhile, research institutions such as Hebei Institute of Technology have also made important progress in the field of investment casting. They have achieved optimized solidification sequence by precisely controlling the solidification time of the castings, internal gates, and sprue. Specifically, the solidification time of the casting (Mc) is less than or equal to the solidification time of the internal gate (Mg), and Mg is less than or equal to the solidification time of the sprue (Ms). This controlled solidification sequence allows the solidification process to stop between the internal gate and the sprue. After the liquid metal in the sprue solidifies, it can be poured back into the furnace, thus realizing sprue-less investment casting. This innovation not only simplifies the casting process but also improves the quality and production efficiency of castings, laying a solid foundation for the widespread application of investment casting.
